Access Levels are a core component of the Drawbridge system. They define who can access which doors and when by combining Door Groups with Schedules. Once created, Access Levels are assigned to cards, which in turn grant permissions to cardholders.
Think of an Access Level as a rule set:
•Which doors? → Defined by Door Groups
•What times? → Defined by Schedules
•Who gets access? → Determined when assigned to a card/cardholder
This structure allows for flexible and scalable access control across your system.
Each Access Level consists of the following:
•Name
oA descriptive identifier (recommended: Door Group + Schedule)
oExample: “Main Entrance – Business Hours”
•Description
oOptional details about the purpose or usage
•Deadbolt Override
oAllows access through locked doors on supported locksets (IN120/IN220)
•Door Group / Schedule Pairings
oThe most critical part of the Access Level
oEach Door Group must be paired with a Schedule to define access times
Follow these steps to create an Access Level:
1.Navigate to Access Control > Access Levels
2.Click “Create New”
3.Enter a Name
oUse a clear, descriptive format
4.(Optional) Enter a Description
5.(Optional) Enable Deadbolt Override if required
6.Open the Door Group/Schedules tab
7.Click “Add” to select one or more Door Groups
8.Assign a Schedule to each Door Group
9.Click Save
1.Go to Access Control > Access Levels
2.Select the Access Level from the list
3.Modify:
oName or Description
oDoor Group/Schedule pairings
oDeadbolt Override setting
4.Click Save
Access Levels are not applied directly to users. Instead, they are assigned to cards:
1.Navigate to Access Control > Cards
2.Select or create a card
3.Open the Access Level Memberships tab
4.Click “Add”
5.Select the desired Access Level
6.Define Effective Dates (optional)
7.Save changes
Once assigned, the cardholder inherits the permissions of that Access Level.
•Use clear naming conventions (Door + Time)
•Avoid overly complex Access Levels—keep them modular
•Reuse Door Groups and Schedules when possible
•Regularly review Access Levels for outdated permissions
•Use Effective Dates for temporary access (contractors, visitors)
•Multiple Access Levels can be assigned to a single card
•Permissions are cumulative across Access Levels
•Changes to an Access Level automatically apply to all associated cards
